Outer Banks NC Lighthouses Part 3

Image
Continuing our journey on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, we stopped at two other lighthouses and the first was Cape Hatteras Light Station. In 1999, Cape Hatteras lighthouse was moved from its original location to save it from going out to sea. Corolla, North Carolina Outer Banks Sites to See Part 2

On our adventures in the OBX, we took a day and went to Corolla, North Carolina just north of Duck.  Mileage-wise, it was not that far from where we were staying in Kill Devil Hills, but it took some time since the traffic was slow on the small road leading to Corolla.  And there was road work being done in Duck.  Our first stop was the lighthouse.  There is a museum (free to enter) and a gift shop.  One can walk up the lighthouse, for a fee, but my hip was not having it since we had been to the Wright Brothers Memorial the day before. This massive house is the Whalehead Club Historic Mansion. For a small fee, one can tour this house.  They do not allow photography inside the house.  This house took years to build and was completed in 1925. ...
