Frozen Lemonade Protein Shake

Image
Need a cool drink in this sweltering heat?   I don’t know about you, but I drink loads of ice water in the summertime. Since I am a type 2 diabetic, I need to watch what I eat and drink.   My assistant, Kayla, found a recipe for the Frozen Lemonade Protein Shake online and we decided to try it out. Here is the inspirational video below...  FatLossDietician Ingredients :   Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade, Vanilla Protein powder, and ice. Kayla happened to have the protein powder.  I am sure whatever vanilla protein powder you have will work. If you have lemon protein powder, that might work even better. We had to experiment since the video we watched did not have exact amounts.   We finally decided that what tasted the best was using a glassful of ice, a tablespoon of protein powder, and one can of lemonade worked the best. I have a blender that grinds ice very nicely.  So, we started with the ice, added the protein powder, and then the ca...

Asparagus Facts and Recipes

Image
***UPDATED 4/27/24*** Asparagus is now in season in Virginia. I happen to like asparagus, how about you? My preference is to grill it on our gas grill with some olive oil and salt/pepper. Oh so good! Here are some fun facts about asparagus.  Asparagus has been cultivated for 2,500 years and for almost 150 years in the United States. It takes three years from seed to harvest. California is among the top 3 states in asparagus production. Other states that produce bunches of asparagus include Washington and Michigan, while others produce very small quantities. Sea salt was the asparagus farmer’s original herbicide. White asparagus and green asparagus come from the same plant. Green asparagus gets its color from sunlight. When the plant breaks through the ground, the sun hits it, turning it green. For white asparagus, sunlight is prevented from touching the plant by piling dirt on top of the stalks so the asparagus matures underground. Once the tip breaks through the surface, the stalk...
