Organizational Tips for Your Closet

It's that time of year where the weather is getting warmer and we are ready to change our winter clothing out for summer clothes. That usually means getting some organization done in the closet. Do you have issues with organizing your closets? If you are anything like me, you put off this task as long as possible. This is a chore that only happens once a year for me. Normally this is a springtime thing to do in my household. When I get in the mood to do such a task, I go to the WWW for some help. As I was looking for some ideas on organizing my closets, I came across this wonderful infographic from Chasing Foxes website.

Do you need to weed out your clothes? I'm sure most of you haven't worn the majority of the close in your closet because of the COVID pandemic. I have worn probably a quarter of the clothes in my closet. Here's another fabulous graphic to help you with this chore.

Do you have the desire to become a minimalist? Here are some helpful tips on reaching that goal.

Cathy and I sell on eBay, Poshmark, etc. If you have designer clothing & shoes and want to make a couple of bucks, my suggestion is to try selling them. It's a little bit of a rush selling items online, I won't lie.

I hope this helps you in your organizational journey. Do you have some helpful tips while organizing, we'd love to hear from you.

Sending our love and best wishes,

~Kelly

Organize Your Pantry in 10 Steps

***UPDATED 3/18/23***

Organizing a pantry can be a daunting task but with a few products and time, you can have your pantry in ship-shape order sooner than you think.

  1. The first thing to do is take everything out of your pantry.
  2. Take inventory of food items and check expiration dates. Throw anything away that is past its best used by date. If there's an item that you know you won't use and it's not expired, give it to a local food pantry.
  3. Clean the shelves and floor.
  4. If you need to replace shelf liners, this is the time.

  5. Categorize like items. Invest in some baskets or containers to store your items, the Dollar store, Ikea, Amazon, and Walmart are great places to go. They have all kinds of containers to choose from. You may also need to add labels to your containers for ease of use. Using clear bins in different sizes because you can stack them and see through them. It makes life much easier.

  6. Once you've decided what goes where start packing those containers with like items.
  7. Utilize the inside of the door. You can hang a rack on the door for small items and items that you would use frequently.

  8. If you have space on the inside wall, use hooks to hang aprons, brooms, etc.

  9. Have a kid's spot in the pantry. It could be a basket of snacks they can retrieve themselves and not have to ask mom.

  10. After you have cleaned and sorted it, keep it up. Your pantry can get disorganized over time. Always put items back in their appropriate spot, and get the whole family on board by keeping food accessible and visible. Twice a month make sure everything is clean and in its place so you don't have to spend hours organizing it again.
