Chick-fil-A Sauce vs Walmart Chicken Dipping Sauce

First off, HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 2020 was a challenging year and we hope that 2021 will be better and that we can get to more of our normal life. Sad to say, this may be our new normal for a while. Oh well, let's talk about something we all love to talk about and that's food!

We LOVE Chick-fil-A! Did you know that their most delicious special sauce was invented by the owner of our local Fredericksburg CFA restaurant? Indeed it was and you can read about it here Serendipitous sauce the chick-fil-a sauce story. It's a great story!!

I don’t get to CFA as often as I would like. I keep their sauce on hand but when it runs out, oh my, what shall we do. We found out that Walmart has a Great Value Chicken Dipping Sauce that rivals CFA Sauce. My daughter decided to try a taste test and I was in. Here’s what we found out:

First off, my daughter put the two sauces in separate bowls and marked them A & B. I was supposed to guess by looking & tasting which one was which. I knew right off the bat that B was the CFA sauce because of the lighter color. I tasted both and again picked B as the CFA sauce. I was correct on both.

The major differences between the two were that the Great Value was darker in color and had a smokey bbq flavor also a bit tangier. It also had a thicker consistency. The CFA sauce is sweet and mustardy also it is thinner in the bottle than in the small packages.

Size and price difference: GV is 12 oz. for $1.92 and the CFA sauce is 8 oz. for $2.50. (price increase in 2023 is GV sauce $2.28 and the CFA sauce is $3.98)

My preference is always going to be the CFA sauce. It just goes so well with chicken and I like to dip my fries in too. Oh so good!! The GV sauce is good too, so I will have this in my pantry for a go-to when I run out of CFA sauce.
