What’s in My Easter Basket? – A 60-Year-Old’s Guide to Easter Joy

Image
🐰 What’s in My Easter Basket? – A 60-Year-Old’s Guide to Easter Joy At 60, you’d think I’d be over the whole Easter basket thing, right? Wrong. Just because I’m a “grown-up” (technically) doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a basket full of goodies. If anything, I’ve earned the right to have a basket that’s tailored exactly to my tastes—no questionable jellybeans, no hollow chocolate bunnies that taste like cardboard, and absolutely no plastic grass that ends up stuck to my socks for three weeks. So, what’s in my Easter basket this year? Let me take you on a little tour of a mature Easter basket, packed with thoughtful, indulgent, and just a little cheeky goodies. 🍫 1. Chocolate (Because Chocolate Has No Age Limit) At 60, I don’t waste time with the cheap stuff anymore. My Easter basket is strictly filled with candy that I love and do not have often! ✅ Lindt Gold Bunny – Classic. I’ll eat the ears first because that’s how nature intended it. ✅ Whoppers  – Don’t care ...

Exploring the Art of Creating Freeze-Dried Sweets

Image
La st year, Niagara Falls was the destination for my daughter and her familys vacation.  They also stepped into the Canada side of the falls. At some point, they found a big candy store that had freeze-dried candy.  They got all excited about that, but the freeze-dried candy is very expensive.  So, I came up with the idea to experiment with freeze-drying some candy for our granddaughter’s Christmas stockings. My assistant, Kayla, and I researched which candies are the best to freeze dry. My husband, Leroy, researched how long and what settings to use to freeze candy. And so, the experiment began. First, I did not buy a lot of each type of candy.  Most of them were theatre box candies for $1.25.  We did multiple tries of 5 trays at a time.  I did not take pictures of each kind.  These two trays are Sour Patch Gummies and Peach Rings.  Leroy and I watched a video about the Peach Rings, so we wanted to try those.  Well, these two did not turn...

What brings you joy???

Image
***Updated 4/29/23*** I've been thinking lately about what brings me joy. We all go through trials in our lives and I believe that during the struggle we can find a blessing and joy. Here are a few things that bring me JOY: My Lord as Savior is the foremost JOY in my life. If it wasn't for him giving me life and victory to fight the good fight, I don't know where I'd be today. Thank you, Lord!! My husband Jay, is my greatest earthly joy. He makes me laugh at the dumbest things and he keeps me grounded. He's a wonderful father, grandfather, and provider and he's the love of my life. I'm glad he found me! My children are a blessing and a joy, no matter how old they are, they will always be my babies. My grandchildren are just the icing on the cake with a big old JOY on top. I love them to the moon and back. What's the saying, "If I had known grandchildren were this much fun I would have had them first". My dog Baxter is a wo...
