Recently, we had the opportunity to get together with Catherine Powers, author of The Spree of '83, so it was decided we'd meet her halfway on June 13th, 2024, and would eat lunch together and of course, chat it up, our specialty 😉.
We couldn't have asked for a better day to visit! Check out the view!
We met with Catherine at BuddlyLou's in Hancock, Maryland. When we entered the parking lot, our eyes were immediately drawn to BuddyLou's restaurant. It was like a beacon of joy, bursting with color and life. As we entered we were greeted with antiques and more. The walls were decorated with whimsical items. It was impossible to not look at everything.
Entering the building, you see the same colorful and fun decor with antiques and more.
Of course, a visit to the restroom was made (many times ;) with a greeting from the shell lady.
We enjoyed our visit with Catherine and learned much from her about her life on the road with Freddy and many other country artists. She's led a rich and fulfilling life. We hope you check out her book. You can order the book, The Spree of '83, directly using Venmo @Catherine-Powers-13.
A fan favorite of the restaurant is the BuddyLou's Fried Bologna Sandwich, made with crispy bologna, topped with caramelized pineapple and onion chutney, spicy mustard, shredded romaine on a brioche bun. Kelly couldn't help herself and ordered it. She was not disappointed and it brought back a little nostalgia.
By the way, they are dog-friendly with canine cuisine and a special dining space for you and your furbaby! >> BuddyLou's Canine Cuisine.
If you get a chance to visit BuddyLou's in Hancock, MD, you won't be disappointed. Also, Hancock has some interesting history >>Town of Hancock.
Have you heard of Catherine and Freddie Powers or Buddylou's in Hancock, Maryland? We'd love to hear from you in the comments.

I don't know about you, but I get excited about fall decorating. T he change of colors is always so pretty and fall just feels like such a cozy season. One of my other favorite things about fall is all of the wonderful scents. Ahhh, the crisp fall air! The rich spices like ground cinnamon and cloves bring a warmth to the air that can’t be denied. Whether you’re cozying up to a fire, baking a delicious treat, or just taking in the sights and smells of the season, the crisp fall air, the rich spices, fresh apples, ground cinnamon, and cloves are all sure to bring a smile to your face. What's not to l ove?! DIY simmer pots are a great way to make your home smell amazing with no added chemicals or artificial fragrances. The scent of apple pie will fill your home in no time! ***UPDATED 1/27/24*** I stumbled upon this Birthday Cake Box for the needy on Pinterest and thought what a fabulous idea. It’s super quick & easy to make and donate to the food pantry/people in need. The Dollar Tree and Walmart have the cake mixes and frosting for just over $1 and lots of paper products and inexpensive party supplies. For just under $10 you can make them for your local shelter or food pantry. Kids get a kick out of helping and it also makes a great service project for scout groups and church ministry groups. Here's what you need to make a Birthday Cake Box: 9x13 Disposable aluminum foil pan with a lid, it's helpful to have the lid for packaging and delivering purposes. 1 box of cake mix, any flavor you like 1 can of lemon-lime soda (in case the recipient doesn’t have eggs or oil) Birthday candles You can add birthday napkins, candles, a banner, etc. Did you know that you can make a delicious cake out of nothing but a box of ...
***UPDATED 7/8/23*** Nature's Nectar Pure Coconut Water from ALDI didn't suit our fancy. We all agreed there's way to much sodium taste in the coconut water and as you get older, as we three are, we have to watch our sodium intake. As we taste-tested the water, the decision was it wasn't good to just drink but we did, however, agree that it might make a great addition to making smoothies. How about making this delicious smoothie: Ingredients Coconut water, regular or flavored 2 bananas 2 mangos 1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen) 1/2 cup Greek yogurt 2 tablespoons honey Directions Fill ice trays with the coconut water and freeze until solid. Place the fruit, honey, and 12 to 14 coconut water-flavored ice cubes into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately. Recipe courtesy Bobby Flay Here's the nutritional ...
