Six Make Ahead Freezer Meals

Image
***UPDATED 3/18/25*** Do you like to save time and money? Make-ahead freezer meals save time and money. I typically make a meal for the four of us and freeze the leftovers. It's always a great idea to have a few meals in the freezer for those busy days. I recommend making extra of every meal during a full week, then you will have a full week of dinners in a pinch. Prepping freezer meals starts with buying enough ingredients to make at least two family meals at once.  Use nonporous containers like glass dishes, freezer bags, and those foil pans you can get 2 for $1.25 at the  Dollar Tree  to store your meals. Most of these recipes are delicious for up to four months. Make sure to thaw this freezer meal in the fridge the night before to speed up oven cooking time. ...

When It's Time to Toss Those Household Items

Image
Have you ever wondered when is the best time to toss those good old household items that you use day-to-day? As I was researching, I found ten items that should be tossed on a regular basis. I’m sure there are more but let’s start small 😉 1. Sponges - I love a good kitchen sponge, but did you know i t doesn’t take long for sponges to become a hotbed of bacteria. They can spread germs to your hands and then to your food. Or if you have a cut on your hand, bacteria can enter your body that way. Even if you boil or microwave your sponges after each use, scientists say it’s best to replace them once a week. 2. Pillows -   Your beloved pillow loses shape and firmness over time. It also absorbs the sweat, oil, and skin cells you shed while you sleep. Trade-in old pillows for new ones every 2 years -- sooner if they’re flat, lumpy, or stay folded after you bend them in half. I wash and dry pillows a couple of times before it’s time to throw them away. 3. Toothbrush -  Twice-a-...

Bread Slicer Review

Image
I recently bought a new bread maker, the Frigidaire 15 Program Automatic Bread Maker from Walmart, and while searching for a new bread maker to buy, I found  Amazon was advertising this collapsible bread slicer. I did a little research and discovered that majority of folks who bought it gave it a great rating.  So needless to say, I bought one.  My first thought was when I took it out of the box is that you can cut the bread in different thicknesses. It has  4 different thicknesses:  0.59”/ 0.79”/ 0.98”/ 1.18". It stands up well after opening. Once I had my bread ready, I held it up against the front of the slicer, took a long serrated knife, and began slicing. The slicer moved around a bit and I didn’t like that so I put some grip shelf liner under it. That worked like a charm to keep it steady. Plus you don’t have to worry about cutting your fingers. For every slice, I took each cut slice of bread and moved it to the cutting board.  VOILA!!  I ...

DIY Laundry Room Sign

Image
I don't have a fancy laundry room. It's in a storage area in the unfinished part of our basement. As I was cleaning up the area, I thought I would like to put a small sign just to spruce it up a bit. Looking on the internet, I saw this cute sign (below) that caught my attention. I really didn't want to spend $20 on a little sign and then thinking about it, I thought why not make it myself. Hobby Lobby was my first thought to find an unfinished wood sign and I was correct, they did have something I liked and it was only $2. I had everything else in my arsenal of crafts to make it. If you are interested in making one similar, here's what you need: Unfinished wood sign Chalk paint   Cricut or another custom cutter Vinyl  whatever color you would like Cutting mat Sponge brush Transfer paper Cricut Scraper & Spatula Tool Instructions: The first thing you need to do is get out all your supplies and get organized. Paint the sign and let it dry. Decide what font & size ...
