Gingerbread House Creations

Image
I just love to make gingerbread houses. It's one of my favorite traditions during the Christmas season. Below are some of the gingerbread creations that my daughter and I made in the past. Some of them were from scratch and some were kits. I hope this gives you some incentive to get your creative juices flowing not only to make something unique but make memories. My grandson's first gingerbread creation. Can you tell he loves trains? He wants to make a Thomas Train this year. Can you tell which were made from scratch from the kits? Which one of the gingerbread creations above is your favorite? I think if I had to choose, my favorite would be the two story house that I made from scratch. (Oops I gave one away) I actually used a pattern that I found online or in a book, I can't remember. It was the most difficult gingerbread house we made. We would love for you to share your gingerbread house creations, whether it be from the past or just recently. Tag us on your social medi

Maybe you can design your own with a little inspiration from these wonderful ladies who participated in the challenge. Ham Broccoli and Cheddar Soup with Flaky Cheddar-Chive Garlic Biscuits

Image
Normally our blog goes out on Monday morning but I made this delicious soup with biscuits this week and thought maybe you would like to try it this weekend. Since it's getting colder outside, soup is always on the menu at our house. This particular soup,  Ham Broccoli and Cheese Soup is fairly easy and oh so good!. The biscuits remind me of Red Lobsters biscuits and if you haven't made biscuits before, you need to make these. Ham Broccoli and Cheddar Soup Recipe from Eat at Home Ingredients 1 bunch broccoli, cut (or about 4 cups frozen florets) 1 stick butter small onion, diced 1/2 cup flour 6 cups chicken broth 4 cups milk, warmed 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 cups cheddar, shredded 2 cups diced ham Instructions Steam the broccoli until tender. In a large pot, melt the butter and cook the onion till soft.  Stir in the flour and cook for a minute or two.  Whisk in the chicken broth.  Add the warm milk and Worcestershire sauce.  Heat over medium heat till the soup is hot. Newport Aquarium Kentucky Trip Part 3

Image
On our last day in Kentucky, my husband and I went to the Newport Aquarium , located at 1 Levee Way, Newport, Kentucky.   It was fairly easy to get to the parking garage.   Then you can walk downtown or right by the entrance to the aquarium there are vendors and shops for different foods.            The aquarium is right on the river.   You can stroll along the river or cross this bridge into Cincinnati, Ohio.   The building has artwork and beautiful flowers along the riverside.    As you can imagine, there were lots to see inside the aquarium as well.    Fish, sharks, seahorses, octopus, crabs, lobsters, frogs, snakes, and on and on.   Lots to see for all ages. Upside down jellyfish and this octopus was on the move.                      It does not take all day for the aquarium.   So if you go, just drive around and see the sites.   Leroy and I enjoy doing that.   We had a great time in Kentucky.   I hope you get to go and experience some of the fun. Have you been to Newport Aquar

Too many potatoes, onions and milk? No worries!

Image
Cream of Potato Soup I was given potatoes, had extra onions and had a lot of milk to use up. So I decided to see which recipe would use these items up. Never made potato soup myself  because back in the day, no left over potatoes!  Ingredients 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced 1 cup water 2 tablespoons chopped onion 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 3 cups whole milk 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon celery salt Dash pepper Paprika and minced fresh parsley Instructions   Place the potatoes and water in a saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cover and cook until tender; drain and set aside. In the same pan, saute onion in butter until tender. Stir in flour until blended. Gradually stir in milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Reduce heat; add the potatoes, salt, celery salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle with parsley and paprika. I also, added a dash of garlic and a dash of herbs. Recipe

Cathy's Homemade Wrinkle Release Spray for Clothing

Image
***UPDATED 10/2/24*** Cathy's Homemade Wrinkle Release Spray for Clothing  I sell clothing online and sometimes they are extremely wrinkled. Plus, I use this for my own clothing. I have been using this recipe for about 3 years now and works great for me.  This is simple and inexpensive.   Recipe:        14 oz spray bottle        12 oz of water        1 tsp fabric softener        1 tsp alcohol   Instructions :   Mix all ingredients by shaking. Hang the clothing up on a hanger, I hang mine in the shower.   Spray generously on those stubborn wrinkles and stretch the fabric at the wrinkle to straighten.    Let dry overnight. So easy! I hope you will try this and save money because those wrinkle-release sprays purchased  in the store are expensive. Let us know if you have tried this recipe or have one of your own. Comment and share your thoughts.   Keep it sassy, Cathy+ ***************************************************************************** Thank you so much for taking the time t
