May is National Strawberry Month.  Fresh strawberries are one of the most popular and refreshing treats anywhere and healthy too! Perfect for everything from cheesecake to mojitos to jam. And since the peak picking season starts in May, there will be plenty of juicy blooms.  Here are some juicy tidbits about strawberries: Strawberries are high in Vitamin C. Eating eight strawberries is all it takes to consume 140% of a child's recommended daily intake of Vitamin C. Good thing my grandson loves strawberries. You can find them all over the U.S. Strawberries are grown in all fifty states. They are ar related to a popular flower. Strawberries belong to the Rosaceae flowering plant family, which is also the family of the rose. Strawberries aren't berries. Fruits that fall into the berry category have seeds on the inside, not the outside. They are very stimulating.  ***UPDATED 4/27/24*** Another Christmas present my husband and I received was a FoodSaver .  We received this from my son and his wife .   We were thinking about getting one and of course, my husband wanted to buy one right before Christmas .  My practice is not to buy anything right before Christmas just in case you get it for Christmas .  Good thing I would not let him get one .  😜   This is the machine we received, FoodSaver V4400 .  I didn't know there were so many different styles and kinds of food savers.   This one is a nice size.   Not too small or big.   It fits on my counter nicely, but when not in use I have it on my buffet.   I don't have a lot of counter space. As you can see it also vacuums containers and bags.  It came with a roll to size your own, a couple small reusable bags, a couple of larger reusable bags, and bags to seal already sized .  I have to admit, I have not tried reusable bags yet .  But I am excited about trying them.   I have had to buy more
