Trip on the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams, Arizona

Image
My trip to Arizona earlier this year included a trip to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.  It was decided that we would take a day trip which included a train ride to the Grand Canyon.   We stayed the night in Williams, Arizona.   It is a very small town about an hour outside of Flagstaff.   It seemed to consist of  two main streets.   On one  street  there is the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel.  You can stay at the hotel, but there are other hotels available to stay in as well.  My husband, Mom, and I stayed at one of the other hotels.   The next morning, we boarded the train to the Grand Canyon.  It is a day trip to and from the Grand Canyon.  There are various train cars to choose from.  The cars go from basic to luxurious and the price varies depending on which car you choose.   www.thetrain.com There is an attendant in each car to answer questions and tell some of the histories.  The trip also has musicians and cowboys.  It’s f un for the whole family.   Our attendant  was very

Transition Your Dyed Hair to Gray

Image
Are you going through that moment where you ask yourself, "should I keep dying my hair or just go for it and let my natural gray come on out and shine"? We've been there and done that and let me tell you, it's worth transitioning to natural color. I had skunk hair about every two weeks, so the maintenance was just getting to me.  It took me about a year to fully grow the dyed part of my hair out. If I were brave at the time, which I wasn't, I would have just got a super short haircut and then let it grow out. But I didn't, so, therefore, I chose to highlight with blonde coloring so it wouldn't be so noticeable. I'm going to share with you tips to help you with your transition from well-known companies such as Good Housekeeping and others. Good Housekeeping had 5 tips to go gray. A color correction can save you from growing it out.   You have the option of essentially getting a "color correction," but instead of correcting it your natural or d

Organizational Tips for Your Closet

Image
It's that time of year where the weather is getting warmer and we are ready to change our winter clothing out for summer clothes. That usually means getting some organization done in the closet. Do you have issues with organizing your closets? If you are anything like me, you put off this task as long as possible. This is a chore that only happens once a year for me. Normally this is a springtime thing to do in my household. When I get in the mood to do such a task, I go to the WWW for some help. As I was looking for some ideas on organizing my closets, I came across this wonderful infographic from  Chasing Foxes  website. Do you need to weed out your clothes? I'm sure most of you haven't worn the majority of the close in your closet because of the COVID pandemic. I have worn probably a quarter of the clothes in my closet. Here's another fabulous graphic to help you with this chore. Practicing Aparigraha and Weeding Out Your Closet — YOGABYCANDACE Do you have the desire

A Visit to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix Arizona

Image
**UPDATED 3/31/23** My husband and I made a trip to Arizona late February and early March to visit my Mom in Mesa, Arizona.  One of the places we got to explore was the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona.  The garden was not in full bloom, but it was nice just the same.  I think we were about a month too early. There were plenty of cacti to see and several that happened to have blooms on them.   There were some beautiful flowers in bloom.  One of the exhibits in the garden is called The Bee Garden.  Here are some of the flowers that were in bloom.  And yes the bees were doing their thing. Trail Guide Map (dbg.org) This is called the Ironwood Tree.  It stands 20 feet tall.  Quite impressive in person. Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona (dbg.org) Jeff Hebets is the artist.  He made this in honor of his cousin, Phil who originated a tree boxing methodology that enabled over a million native plants to be salvaged instead of bulldozed. 10 Easter & Spring Crafts for Kids

Image
***UPDATED 3/18/24*** It’s that time of year when flowers, bunnies, chicks, and eggs are popping up EVERYWHERE! Easter is the first holiday of Spring and we celebrate with the Easter Bunny and Easter egg hunts. But most importantly, we celebrate Easter for one reason, and that’s the death & resurrection of Jesus Christ. With all the commercialization of religious holidays, we tend to forget the real meaning. When my kids were growing up, we loved to do crafts. Almost every holiday was craft time in our house.  Here are several easy and great crafts to do for Easter and Springtime. Links to the crafts are in the caption under the pictures. Ever use socks for crafts? I have and these cute little bunnies are adorable. Sock Bunny (Easter Crafts for Kids) - A Pumpkin And A Princess All you need for the funny bunny is a printer, paper, and some sort of candy, like a sucker, a candy straw, or a candy stick.  Funny Bunny Oh my, how cute are the baby birds in the nest?
