Food and Drink Review of Pringles and French Soda

Recently, on our last YouTube LIVE show, we taste tested Pringles potato chips and French Soda.

The Sparkling French Soda comes in a variety of flavors and Kelly chose the Pear Cardamom. From the Alsace region in France, their soda is made using a traditional artisan recipe starting with natural spring water. Sweet and tart lemon flavor with a hint of pear and aromatic cardamom characterizes this light, crisp drink that's gently carbonated and low in sugar. Price $3.99.

REVIEW:  The soda isn't overly sparkly and it has a light flavor. We thought it to be a refreshing drink. Kelly particularly likes the bottle because it's reusable. Fill it with whatever your heart desires. You can find our YouTube review here.

Our next product is the Pringles Potato Chips. The Dill Pickle Pringles were a hit with us all. These were bought at Walmart for $1.53.

REVIEW: Right off the bat they smelled like dill pickles and tasted dilly with that sour note that dill pickles have. They weren't overpowered with flavor and we liked that. Click here for YouTube review of the Pringles Dill Pickle chips.

The Pizza flavor Pringles were up next. We don't know anyone that doesn't like pizza and thought these would be absolutely full of pizza flavor.

REVIEW: The chips did not smell like pizza. The flavor was not what we expected, we thought it would have more pizza pizzazz. We weren't overly thrilled with them and probably wouldn't buy them again. See our reaction on our YouTube video here.

We hope you enjoyed our review of the Pringles and French Soda. Have you had any of these products? We'd love to hear your thoughts.

Cathy's Chicken BBQ and Coleslaw Recipes

***UPDATED 8/5/23***

This is so easy and I use to make this with a variety of meats and serve it to my family on  many occasions.

Ingredients for the BBQ:

  • Chicken, used three chicken breasts
  • BBQ sauce, your choice
  • Hamburger buns
Instructions:

  1. Rinse the chicken and cover with water with a pinch of salt in a crockpot on high.
  2. Cook until the chicken is white all the way through. It doesn't take long once the pot it hot. Maybe 10-15 minutes.

  3. Shred it in a pot and add 1/2 bottle of BBQ sauce.

  4. Turn it on low and let it cook. All day or all night. I left it on all night and smelled wonderful when I woke up.

Ingredients for the Coleslaw:
  • 16 oz. coleslaw in a bag
  • 1/2 C mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 C sugar, more or less depending on how sweet you like it
  • Celery seed
Instructions:
  1. Dump coleslaw mix in a bowl.
  2. Mix in a separate bowl, add mayonnaise, vinegar & sugar.
  3. Pour the dressing mixture over the coleslaw and mix together.
  4. Sprinkle with celery seed.

You can add to your recipe and make it your own! I tried it out on my LIVE stream Cathy Conversation and Coffee 8/9/21 on our YouTube channel! Click here

DIY Over the Door Sign

This DIY over the door sign is simple and a quick way to decorate over any door in your house. I was looking for some scripture signs to put over two open doorways in our home and after researching, I thought why not make them. I have a Cricut Explore Air & vinyl, all I needed was the wood and paint.

I found the unfinished wood at Home Depot.  I bought two 1 in. x 4 in. x 39” Spruce/Pine/Fir Common Board Bed Slats @ $2.96 a piece.

The paint I bought at Walmart, Waverly Inspirations Ultra Matte White for $6.54.

The vinyl I used was Cricut removable vinyl. It actually wasn’t easy to remove when I made a mistake, that was disappointing.

The 2” font was Courgette and I cut black vinyl. I had to make it fit on the 12” x 12” vinyl sheet. After cutting it out with my Cricut Explore Air, I cut sections of the words and used transfer paper to adhere to the painted wood.

As far as the removeable vinyl goes, it didn’t want to remove when I made a mistake. OOPS! Oh well, we will see how long it will last until I can't stand looking at my mistakes. 🤣

To hang them I used 3M Command strips which, with my experience, usually work very well .

What are your thoughts? Would you try and make something similar? We’d love to hear from you, please comment below.

Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup Mix Review

 ****UPDATED 8/5/23***

Cathy's review on Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup Mix
🍲🍲🍲🍲🍲🍲🍲🍲

Well, I wanted to try a chicken dish and thought chicken soup would be a great start because I can freeze what I don't eat right away. Progresso soups are really pretty good so I thought why not try the mix. I have purchased the can soups and liked them.

Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup Mix

Looks easy and all you do is add cooked chicken  and water!

Instructions on the back of the package for the stovetop, slow cooker or instant pot.

8 cups of water in a 6-quart pot. Whisk in the contents of the pouch.

Bring to a boil.
I cooked chicken and added it as soon as I could so the
noodles get the meat flavor. They ask you to wait
until boiling but I don't follow instructions! LOL!

Like I said, I added chicken right away and
simmered after it reached boiling point.
Simmered for 20 minutes.

Smells and looks great!

I loved it!
I like soups and will definitely use this mix again in the winter because I want to add more cooked veggies to it. Enough flavor to add more water, as well. This is a great shelf-stable product to buy early and have on hand! Try it sometime!

You can purchase it at Walmart → Progresso.

I will try to make or taste something new once a week, so make sure you watch my Cathy Conversation and Coffee segments on Mondays!

July 2021 Craft challenge

Recently Cathy decided we needed  to have a craft challenge using candlesticks. The challenge was made on our YouTube channel to make anything you want out of candlesticks but they couldn't be used for candles. We had a few DIYers that took on that challenge and came up with some awesome crafty ideas.

Below are the designs from the craftiest crafters!

Cathy used two clear glass candlesticks and make a jewelry hanger. She used what she had on hand with the shells and it worked out pretty nicely. Her total was approximately $4 in materials.

Cathy's Designs

Kelly used four clear glass candlesticks and made a few things. She found the glass candy dishes with tops at Goodwill with the same design. Using E6000 glue, she glued the dishes on top of the candlesticks. She’s using them in her bathroom as a dental pick holder and cotton ball/Qtip holder. The grand total was $3 for the dishes and the candlesticks were given to her.

Kelly's Designs

With the last two candlesticks, Kelly made a 3-tiered tray. She bought the 2 clear glass plates and a bowl at the Dollar Tree. She used the E6000 glue once again. Easy peasy. The grand total for this project was $3 and again the candlesticks were given to her.

Kelly’s Design

Here's the best idea yet! Joyce, one of our fondest followers, is the craftiest person we know. She made this butterfly fountain. She used 3 candlesticks a couple of trays and a bowl to create this wonderful fountain. She arranged rocks on the bottom, more than likely for weight, used flowers to attract the butterflies and other little things to fill the middle and added a few rocks on the top tier with water for the birds and butterflies to drink. We were so impressed with the design. WAY TO GO JOYCE!
