What brings you joy???

Image
***Updated 4/29/23*** I've been thinking lately about what brings me joy. We all go through trials in our lives and I believe that during the struggle we can find a blessing and joy. Here are a few things that bring me JOY: My Lord as Savior is the foremost JOY in my life. If it wasn't for him giving me life and victory to fight the good fight, I don't know where I'd be today. Thank you, Lord!! My husband Jay, is my greatest earthly joy. He makes me laugh at the dumbest things and he keeps me grounded. He's a wonderful father, grandfather, and provider and he's the love of my life. I'm glad he found me! My children are a blessing and a joy, no matter how old they are, they will always be my babies. My grandchildren are just the icing on the cake with a big old JOY on top. I love them to the moon and back. What's the saying, "If I had known grandchildren were this much fun I would have had them first". My dog Baxter is a wo

My Trip to the Grand Canyon

Image
In my last blog, I told you that my husband, Mom and I took the train to the Grand Canyon.  If you haven't seen that post, click here . Because of the time of year, we only went to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.  We were able to spend a couple of hours touring.  There are fantastic views.  I have balance problems, so I did not get anywhere near close to the edge.  My husband did, so some of the pictures were taken by him.  The Grand Canyon is full of color.  Our pictures probably do not do it justice. My Mom and I safely standing back from the edge. My hubby, Leroy,  decides to stand right on the edge.  Oh my! Buckey’s Cabin is the only remaining building from the early pioneer settlement era of the Grand Canyon Village.  Built in 1895 by William Owen “Buckey” O’Neill. The adobe-style house is a store where you can buy items made by local artisans.  I scored a pair of earrings there. There are places to get something to eat and other establishments where you can buy souvenirs.

Restaurant Review of Grass Rootes in Culpeper Virginia

***UPDATED 4/29/23*** Name of restaurant:  Grass Rootes in Culpeper Virginia Date of visit: April 23, 2021 Star rating:  ⭐ ⭐  ⭐ ⭐ out of 5 Grass Rootes is a farm-to-a-table dining experience in historic downtown Culpeper at the corner of East Davis Street and South East Street. According to their website, they are in the oldest commercial building in Culpeper and you can tell. You could be a little confused by the outside of the building as it touts the old-style hardware store it used to be once upon a time. They are open Wednesday through Saturday for lunch 11am-2:00pm and or dinner 5:30-9pm.  We parked around back in a lot behind the building. You can use the back stairs to go into the restaurant but we walked around the front of the building and used the main entrance. We arrived around 11:30am on a Friday and it wasn't busy, yet. When noon hit, the restaurant started filling up. Although it wasn't crowded, it was good to see these small restaurants feeding folks. The decor
