Christmas Cookie Cutter Collection

Christmas cookie cutters are a fun and festive way to bring the joy of the holiday season into your home. Not only are they fun to use for making special Christmas cookies, but they can also be used to decorate cakes and cupcakes. With a variety of shapes and sizes available, you can easily find the perfect cookie cutter for your holiday baking needs. From classic shapes like stars, snowflakes, and Christmas trees, to unique designs like Santas, reindeer, and snowmen, there's something for everyone. And with so many different materials to choose from, you can find cookie cutters that are made of plastic, metal, or even silicone. With a little creativity, you can turn your ordinary cookies into a festive masterpiece. No matter what type of cookie cutter you choose, you are sure to enjoy the fun and festive atmosphere that Christmas cookie cutters can bring to your home.

National Cookie Cutter Week is celebrated annually from December 1-7, and is a time to recognize the beloved kitchen tool. During National Cookie Cutter Week, many bakers share their creations on social media, and the hashtag #NationalCookieCutterWeek is used to share recipes and baking tips. The week is a great opportunity to get creative in the kitchen and make something special for the holiday season. Whether you’re a novice baker or an experienced one, the possibilities are endless with cookie cutters. So let's all take part in National Cookie Cutter Week and get creative in the kitchen with our favorite shapes!

This Christmas season, I am so excited to share my cookie cutter collection with all of YOU. I started collecting cookie cutters quite some time ago, I'm not going to tell you how long, that will give my age away (haha). I have cookie cutters of various shapes and sizes, from candy canes and snowmen, to stars and trees. Every year I gather my cookie cutters and I begin to bake. I love the festive shapes they create and the fun memories I make with my family and friends. My cookie cutters make the perfect addition to any Christmas celebration, and I am sure that all of your loved ones will appreciate the special treats you make with them. So gather your cookie cutters and start baking, because it’s Christmas season!

A few years ago, I made this Gingerbread Cookie Christmas Tree with the star cookie cutters. The trick to have a tall tree is to cut out 2 of each size.

I started with a batch of homemade gingerbread cookie dough, which I rolled out and cut into stars of various sizes. I then arranged the stars into a Christmas tree shape, starting with the larger stars at the base and gradually getting smaller as I moved up. I used royal icing to stick the stars together and then decorated the tree with colorful icing, sprinkles, and candy. The result was a fun and festive Christmas tree that everyone loved! Not only was it a delicious treat, but it was also a great way to show off my baking skills.

Gingerbread men cookies are a classic holiday treat that can be decorated with royal icing for an extra special touch. These adorable cookies are perfect for holiday gatherings and make great gifts for friends and family. I had so much fun making these cuties :)

Last year we decided on Christmas mittensThese cookies are sure to add a festive touch to your holiday spread and are a delicious way to spread cheer during the season!

These were just a few of the cookies I've made over the years. I like being creative when it comes to cookies. I made some snowflake cookies one year but I didn't get a photo. They were white and blue, so pretty. Similar to the ones below.

(not my photo)

Do you have a Christmas cookie-cutter collection? Do you make Christmas cookies to give as gifts? We'd love to hear from you. Also, you can share your cookie photos on our Facebook page, we'd love to see them.

In the next couple of weeks, we will be sharing some cookie recipes with you. Stay tuned!!

Keep it sassy,

Family-friendly Christmas Party Games

The Christmas season brings gifts, joy, happiness, and togetherness. So, why not make them all the merrier with Christmas games for the whole family! Here, we've gathered lots of ideas to keep you smiling and laughing at gatherings this season

So put on the Christmas music, pile up the cookies and hot chocolate, and get ready for a lot of fun you'll remember for years to come!

CANDY CANE GAME

This is a cute little game that is also a great Christmas party favor for your guests to take home.
You will need:
  • small stocking
  • a lot of candy canes
  • chopsticks
  • large bowl
  • cup to fit into the stocking
You can usually find these stockings at your local dollar stores. Fill the bowl with the candy canes and place the bowl in the center of a table. Place the stocking on the other end of the table - place a cup inside to keep the stocking open. Give each person a chopstick.

Each player must place the chopstick in their mouth, on the start of go players must place their hands behind their back and try and hook as many candy canes on their chopsticks as they can and transfer them to the stocking.  Give each player one minute.  The player who gets the most candy canes in the stocking wins!  All players get to keep the candy canes they capture so make sure you get enough!

MARSHMALLOW MOUTH

It's SOO easy to make these marshmallow slingers.
You will need:
  • paper cups
  • balloons
  • bowls
  • mini marshmallows
Tie the opening of a balloon, then cut off the end.  Cut the bottom out of a paper cup and wrap the balloon around the bottom to replace it.

To play the game have players divide into pairs. Give one player from each team a marshmallow slinger and a bowl full of mini marshmallows.  Across the table the other player waiting with their hands behind their back. The first player to shoot five marshmallows into their teammates mouths wins!

JINGLE BALL SHAKE

This is a hilarious game. You will need:

  • empty tissue boxes
  • jingle bells
  • ribbon

  1. Tie an empty tissue box around the player's backside (pole 2 holes on opposite ends of the bottom and weave the ribbon through it)
  2. Place 10 little jingle bells in the box.
  3. Start the music.
  4. The player has one minute to dance out as many of the bells from the box as they can.

 Christmas Bingo

Our family loves to play bingo. Here are the free printable bingo  cards from Christmasbingo (crazylittleprojects.com)

CHRISTMAS CHARADES gamE

DRAW A SNOWMAN

This game is so fun and you will definitely be surprised how these come out. You will need:
  • Paper Plates
  • Markers ~ pencils and pens DON’T work well for this game.

How to Play:

The host tells the players to place their paper plates on their heads. Holding the plate in one hand and the marker in the other hand.

Once everyone is ready with their plates on their heads, the host will give a series of instructions:

Draw a line for the ground/snow.
  1. Draw a large snowball for the base of your snowman.
  2. Create a medium-sized snowball on the top of the first one.
  3. Cap your snowman with a small snowball for the head.
  4. Draw a carrot nose.
  5. Now add 2 eyes and a mouth with dots of coal.
  6. Draw a scarf to keep your snowman warm.
  7. Add 2 stick arms.
  8. And finally, finish your snowman by drawing a top hat on your snowman’s head.

Now that the drawings are complete, place all the snowmen on the table to admire.  If you want to make it a competition, have someone that didn't play pick the best snowman.

PLASTIC WRAP GAME

This game is a hit at any party. My family had the best time playing this game.

Watch this video to show you how.  The Saran Wrap Ball Christmas Party Game Challenge (Original) - YouTube

CHRISTMAS CUP GAME

https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=568540088414525

This is the game we are playing this year. It's super easy and all you need is some paper or plastic cups, candy, small toys and even some cash. Also, I'm going to have a few things that a silly, for instance, I'm going to have a pair of underwear under one of the cups and they will have to wear it on their heads throughout the game.

After placing them under the cups in secret, have someone shuffle the cups so not even you know which cup has what under them.

Next, one by one everybody will get a turn to try their luck to get gifts.

Does your family play games during the holidays? We'd love to hear from you in the comments below.

Happy holidays!

DIY Wood Slice Christmas Ornaments

These gorgeous napkin ornaments are simply easy to make. Within a few minutes, you can learn how to make napkin ornaments that you can totally personalize for yourself or friends and family.

How do you make Napkin Ornaments? Watch the video.

Instructions

1. Gather your supplies.

You will need the following:

2. Line up the design.

Line up the design you want from the napkin onto the wood slice ornament by laying the napkin over the top of the wood slice. You don't have to be precise (unless you have a particular design).

3. Separate the napkin.

Paper napkins have more than one ply. Gently rub a corner to get them to separate and then carefully pull it off. Cut it larger than the wood slice.

4. Put a layer of Mod Podge onto the wood slice.

Use a paintbrush and paint a generous layer of Mod Podge onto the wood slice.

5. Press on the napkin.

Carefully lay your napkin circle on top of the mod podge wood slice ornament. Use your fingers to press the napkin down and smooth it out. Make sure to press out any wrinkles or bubbles.

wishlist on Amazon.com. We have items starting as low as $6.

 6. Sand the sides.

I used a fine-grit sand block to sand off the edges of the paper, plus you can see some of the bark of the wood.

7. Mod Podge the top of the napkin.

Use the paintbrush
and paint another layer of Mod Podge to the top of the napkin. Cover it completely up to the very edges.

8. Add the hanger.

You will have to push through the paper in order to pull the hanger through the hole.

9. Embellishments.

Use your imagination on making these ornaments. The sky's the limit!

Do you like to make ornaments? Have you ever made this type of ornament? We'd love to hear from you in the comments below.

Stay sassy,

Kelly

Today I'm going to share with you the most delicious-smelling homemade ornaments ever.   I've made these in the past and let me tell you, it will be a staple on your tree for years to come.

These Easy Cinnamon Ornaments are a simple & fun craft for kids (and kids at heart) that smell amazing hanging on your Christmas tree.

This particular recipe comes from McCormick.

INGREDIENTS 15 Servings
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 200°F. Mix applesauce and cinnamon in a small bowl until a smooth ball of dough is formed. (You may need to use your hands to incorporate all of the cinnamon.) Using about 1/4 of the dough at a time, roll dough to 1/4-inch to 1/3-inch thickness between two sheets of plastic wrap. Peel off the top sheet of plastic wrap. Cut dough into desired shapes with 2- to 3-inch cookie cutters. Make a hole at top of the ornament with a drinking straw or skewer. Place ornaments on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake 2 1/2 hours. Cool ornaments on wire rack. (Or, to dry ornaments at room temperature, carefully place them on a wire rack. Let stand 1 to 2 days or until thoroughly dry, turning occasionally.)
  3. Insert ribbon through holes and tie to hang. Decorate with opaque paint markers, found in arts and crafts stores, if desired.
TIPS AND TRICKS

Test Kitchen Tip: Or use 1 bottle (4.12 ounces) McCormick® Ground Cinnamon. If a larger size bottle of cinnamon is used, measure 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons cinnamon.
